Outdoors at Touch of Nature, May 12, 2022.

Let’s learn about nature outdoors! We are moving the conference outdoors, exploring and learning about southern Illinois at it’s best!

K-12 educators from across the region will join together, and learn hands on, about plants, herpetology, rock morphology, night sky astronomy, microbes in water and much more.  Whether you are a first-year teacher looking for new ideas or a veteran teacher looking for ways to energize your classroom. The Science in the South conference provides ample opportunities to: connect with other educators, explore, learn, and earn PD credits and to just have a great time! Don’t miss this opportunity to walk away with ready-to-use, hands-on activities and lesson plans for all grade levels!

We have re-envisioned our 2022 conference!  This spring Science in the South conference will take place at SIUC Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center on Thursday, May 12th, 2022.

This year’s conference will focus on our local environment.  We are inviting area naturalists to share their expertise on topics specific to environmental opportunities and resources available in our region.  Our featured speaker for this year’s conference will be Award-winning naturalist and Forest Park Great Horned Owl Researcher, Mark H.X. Glenshaw.

One of the original goals for the SIUC Science in the South Conference was to highlight the great things that area teachers are doing so we invite you to consider sharing your expertise and apply to be a presenter.

Register at:  SIUC Conference & Scheduling as a participant or to apply to be a presenter.

Professional Development Hours will be available.
